BYOB - #BakeYourOwnBread (Sept. '12)

Uuummmm...WHERE DID AUGUST GO!?  Seriously, that was the fastest month on record.  I feel like I was just sitting in this exact spot typing up a similar post just a few days ago.  I want to thank all the amazing home bread bakers that joined us in filling up our August #BakeYourOwnBread basket high and proud during that whirlwind of a month.  There are so many amazing breads and rolls that I want to try.  I'm sure my actual baking will never catch up with my dream-land baking...but I'm definitely going to have fun giving it a go!

Our Featured Bread Blog from last month, Hefe und mehr, is written by an extremely talented bread baker named Stefanie.  And surprise, surprise, I had the hardest time narrowing down all of the recipes that I wanted to make into one recipe that I had the time to make.  Oh, but it was a goodie.  And one I will make often.  Or be driven crazy by the begging for more.  Remember, our featured bread blog is optional...but if you get a chance, I hope you'll join us.  It's always fun delving into another blogger's archives to draw inspiration.   And every blog we feature is packed with a variety of bread recipes!

For more info on the BYOB-FBB and to find out September's featured bread blog scroll down below the linky.

Until then, let's take a look at the bread that was baked from Hefe und mehr during August.
1. Connie from My Discovery of Bread baked some Flaxseed Triangles (inspired by this post).
2. Karen from Karen's Kitchen Stories baked beautiful Pain de Beaucaire loaves (inspired by this post).
3. Joyce from Kitchen Flavours baked these lovely Yoghurt Sesame Rolls (inspired by this post).
4. Heather (me) from girlichef found a new favorite in the two-toned Cocoa Rolls (inspired by this post).

And now, I look forward to everybody joining us and helping us to fill up our September bread basket.

How to participate (the rules):
1.) Blog about bread.  It can be a post about baking bread in any form (yeast, wild yeast, quick breads, flat breads, sweet, savory, loaves, rolls, breadsticks, tortillas, scones, biscuits, crackers, etc.).  It could also be a recipe that uses bread in it or as a base (pizza, bread pudding, sandwiches, etc.).  Or it could be an informative post, a tutorial or how-to post (such as how to make sourdough, bread baking essentials, favorite products for baking bread, etc.).  It could be a review of a book or cookbook having to do with bread.  It could be a photo-only post (bread festival, bakery tour, etc.).  Anything that inspires us to bake bread at home.

2.) Include a link back to this post or any of the monthly link-up posts (link in my sidebar or at the bottom) OR link to one of the other hosts.  As long as there is a link that leads people back to BYOB.  You can use a text link or the BYOB button.

3.) Add a link to your post in the current month's BYOB linky/roundup post on any of the hosting blogs.  If you are participating in the optional BYOB - Featured Bread Blog, please let us know by dropping me a note in the comments or somehow marking  your post.

4.)  Please link only posts from the current month.

  1. I'm filled with dream-land baking, cooking, cake decorating and more. I look at this beautiful bread and think of all those posts I've read about hydration percentage and this bit and that bit and I get scared away.

I still have some danish dough in the freezer...hmm what can I do with it??

  3. I still shy away from making bread. Keep encouraging me!

  4. All the stuff and hydration and percentage can be a bit unnerving...but start with a more straight-forward recipe. Something with simple measurements and no extra steps. That's how I gained confidence!! =)

  5. Start simple...with a no-knead recipe...that's how I became more confident with yeast! But you're always free to link up quick breads, too! =) I hope you join us!
