Bread Baking Babes kitchen-of-the-month, and with that my bread choice - Pretzel Croissants. Many of the BBBabes rose to the challenge, you can see the results in this photo collage above.
Then I set forth the challenge for any and all bakers to join us in our folding, rolling, and most of all, patience endeavors! I issued a call for all would-be Bread Baking Buddies to try their hands at combining two of my personal all-time favorite bready-things and making them one.
Four brave (and ridiculously talented) souls rose to the challenge, and earned their BBBuddies badges this month. Let's just say, that not only did they attempt it, they knocked it out of the park! Here are this month's Pretzel Croissants by the Bread Baking Buddies.
First up is Karen from Karen's Kitchen Stories. I agree wholeheartedly (and have stated many times before) that the magical, flaky layers that result from making your own laminated dough rise you up to rock star status...if only in your own mind. Okay, those weren't her exact words, but I knew what she meant. Looking at this photo, I'd say status achieved, wouldn't you?
Now, I'm pretty sure that after hearing the challenge for this month, Carola from Sweet and That's it cursed me under her breath (perhaps out loud, as) several times. But then she pulled herself together and decided to stop putting off til next century what she could do today. Mission accomplished, they look stunning!
Next up is Sandie from Crumbs of Love and her beautifully burnished crust enclosing layer upon flaky layer. Sandie said that she had to put the croissants in the freezer to keep herself from eating too many. Plus, her daughter's teacher was gifted with some. I'm pretty sure that means straight-A's for the rest of the year. Good call.
And last, but definitely not least are these sesame-topped beauties from Renee at Kudos Kitchen by Renee. You'd never know by looking at them, but these were Renee's very first batch of homemade croissants - woo hoo! Rock star number four.
Thanks so much to the four brave souls who answered my challenge this month. I expect a package in the mail from each one of you very soon. I mean, the experience wouldn't be complete unless I could actually try the fruits of your labor. Right!?
Stay tuned for the announcement of the next Bread Baking Babes kitchen-of-the-month, and her call to arms on May 16th! Interested in learning more about the Bread Baking Babes and Buddies? Check out this page, or join us on Facebook.
