I'm happy to be joining Sharon of what the fork Food Blog and a fabulous group of bloggers to help Sharon celebrate her birthday with an amazing giveaway this month! Not only do we have an amazing giveaway for you today, we also have a delicious list of birthday cocktails, cakes and other bakes—and they're ALL gluten free!

I decided to go classic today and make the simple three-ingredient Tequila Sunrise cocktail. All of the ingredients are gluten free, but be sure to check the label when buying your maraschino cherries, as sometimes they can contain some undesirable ingredients.
Tequila Sunrise
This cocktail, named for the beautiful gradual coloring created when grenadine "falls" through the orange juice and tequila, is the perfect drink for kicking back and enjoying on a summer's day....especially a birthday!

Tequila Sunrise Cocktail
It only takes three simple ingredients to make a classic Tequila Sunrise cocktail: tequila, orange juice, and grenadine.

Ingredients (1 cocktail)
  • 1.5 ounces tequila
  • 4 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice
  • grenadine, to taste
to garnish:
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 maraschino cherry (be sure the jar says gluten-free)
Instructions
Fill a glass 2/3 of the way full with ice. Add tequila and orange juice and stir to combine. Drizzle in a little grenadine, garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry. Enjoy!

Note:
For a fun twist, use orange granita in place of the orange juice. Pour some grenadine over the top and finish with tequila for a frozen tequila sunrise.
